WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR CLASSROOM:
HI, EVERYONE! ..We will continue to write the "Starfish Story" throughout the school year.This week, we are working on social issues book clubs with a shared reading of "The Great Gilly Hopkins."........We will practice the skill of comparing and contrasting...Our social issues lenses so far include "fairness," "groups" and "power." This week, we will look at the role of "gender."...We will look at different summarizing strategies in both fiction and non-fiction text....We will begin our "Start with Hello" social isolation awareness campaign and do what we can to combar this important social issue in our own school community..We will do an interactive read aloud of "Bully" and examine cyber-bullying....We have begun a shared reading of the Birchbark House and also embark shortly on an American Revolution webquest. ...In math, we will compare and contrast factors and multiples and have a fun enrichment activity with these topics....Make sure your NEW goals are in the library pockets on your desks and you can clearly explain all of them...Any questions?
