WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR CLASSROOM:
HI, EVERYONE! ..HOPE EVERYONE HAD AN AWESOME SPRING BREAK...We will continue to write the "Starfish Story" throughout the school year. ON MONDAY, WE WILL FINISH OUR SOCRATIC SEMINAR FOR ALMOST HOME USING THE RUBRIC TO GUIDE OUR WORK AND WRITE A RESPONSE TO OUR SEMINAR........WE WILL ALSO COLLABORATE ON OUR "TRUE PRICE" HUMANE ED ACTIVITY...We will practice the skill of comparing and contrasting this story to other stories with similar themes with another comparative essay...We will begin animal-social issues book clubs this week and use rubrics to guide our discussions and exit slips following our meetings....We continue studying legends as we get ready to create our own which we will publish on Scholastic.com...Please continue building your "Respect for All Living Things" scrapbooks...We have begun learning about the consitution with a shared reading of "Shh...We're Writing the Constitution" by Jean Fritz...We will continue our "Start with Hello" social isolation awareness campaign and do what we can to combar this important social issue in our own school community..We are finishing our American Revolution webquest, will begin an in-depth unit on the constitution and continue to respond thoughtfully and critically to current events. ...In math, we are getting ready for our NYS assessment while deepening our understanding of how fractions compare with decimals, exploring geometry and measurements and working on enrichment projects including "Menu math," which is a real life math endeavor!!!!.......We continue to learn about respect for all living things with our HEART program, Behind the Scenes projects and begin to construct our Respect for All Living Things scrapbooks...Make sure your NEW goals are in the library pockets on your desks and you can clearly explain all of them...Any questions?
